Until I Have Time to Write…

Enjoy this from The Mind Unleashed.

“Kindness (along with emotional stability) is the most important predictor of satisfaction and stability in a relationship. Kindness makes each partner feel cared for, understood and validated.”

“Another powerful kindness strategy revolves around shared joy. One of the telltale signs of the disaster couples studied, was their inability to connect over each other’s good news.”

Gil and I do well with the above… until we have a big, and often unresolved fight. Then we both have a tendency to revert to child-like behavior — not good. Lately, we seem to bring out the very worst in each other. Sigh…

The author goes into the research specifics in an entertaining and concise way. Check it out.

How are you guys doing with this? Tell me your experiences with kindness and shared joy, both in current and past relationships.

  1. My mom and my grandparents modeled kindness to me from a very young age. They were kind to anyone and everyone: race, religion, social class didn’t matter at all…they were kind to everyone. But especially kind to each other.

I have no relationship now, but I do try to extend kindness in my friendships. And I find that the friendships in which we can celebrate each other’s successes (no matter how big or small) are the strongest.
